A NOVEL DOUBLE CROSS-LINKED PROTON CONDUCTING MEMBRANE AND THE METHODS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF

The invention relates to double cross-linked proton conducting membrane and the method for the preparation of the double cross-linked sulfonated polyetheretherketones (S-PEEK). The method for the preparation of a double cross-linked proton conducting membrane, comprises the following steps: one-step preparation of the crosslinked chlorosulfonated and sufonated PEEK; converting of built-in sulphur and chlorine into soluble compounds and drying into powdered form; dissolving modified PEEK in organic solvents; and post cross-linking of the cross-linked sulfonated and sulfinated polmer by alkylation of the sulfinate groups to achieve double cross-linking of proton conducting membrane. The offered method simplifies synthesis procedure, it does not involve any expensive, harmful and corrosive components and allows using double cross-linking providing high mechanical stability and dense structure and without reducing proton conductivity.
