PURPOSE:To obtain a coated arc welding rod which improves the fluidity or plasticity of a flux in the stage of coating the same, stabilizes coating pressure and is free from eccentricity by coating the flux for blending of a coating material which is beforehand cooled to a prescribed temp. and is kneaded on a core. CONSTITUTION:A flux for blending of low hydrogen type covering materials contg. CaCO3, MgCO3 and CaF2 in particular as essential components is cooled and kneaded at 3-15 deg.C temp. The cooled and kneaded flux is coated on the core of a welding rod, whereby a coated arc welding rod having no eccentricity is obtd. As a result, the temp. of the kneaded flux is maintained in a prescribed range and the heating in the stage of the kneading is suppressed by coolig the blending flux; therefore, the fluidity or plasticity of the flux in the stage of coating the same is improved, the coating pressure is stabilized, and the generation of eccentricity is prevented. |
