PURPOSE:To obtain a laser device with satisfactory excitation efficiency by forming a laser cell so as to have an ellipsoidal crosssectional shape and disposing a light source such that excitation light from a light source is focused on a focal point of the laser cell. CONSTITUTION:Light emanating from one focal point 3 of an ellipsoid necessarily passes through the other focal point 6 as the light reflects on the surface of the ellipsoid. Accordingly, excitation light 2 from an excaitation light source is set to focus on the one focal point 3 of the ellipsoid, the excitation focal point again returns to the same focal point 3. More specifically, the light reflected from the wall of the laser cell by an even number of times again returns to the original focal point. Therefore, at the focal point 3 the quantity of light collected is increased to improve the excitation efficiently. |
