Process for continuous casting of products made of effervescent or weakly deoxidised steel which are free from skin blisters, consisting in adding during the casting in the ingot mould reducing elements which react chiefly with the cast liquid metal which will solidify in the ingot mould. This condition is fulfilled by the use of a coating powder in which one or more of the following reducing elements are incorporated: aluminium, silicon, zirconium, titanium, calcium, with a total content of 0.5 % to 20 % by weight. The total content of iron and manganese oxides in the powder must not exceed 8 % and the carbon content is at least 4 %. The remainder may consist of components such as SiO2, Al2O3, CaO and the like, which are present in the usual coating powders. The invention applies to continuous steel casting.
