A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ELASTIC AND OPEN-CELL FLEXIBLE MOLDED POLYURETHANE FOAMS The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of elastic and open-cell flexible molded polyurethane foams comprising reacting polyisocyanates with polyethers having a total ethylene oxide content of about 25 to about 80% by weight based on total alkylene oxide, in the presence of water and optional organic blowing agents and one or more catalysts selected from the group consisting of urea, thiourea, and derivatives thereof. The reaction may optionally be carried out in the presence of compounds containing at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms and having a molecular weight of 32 to 399 and of known surface-active and flameproofing additives and other known auxiliaries.
