PURPOSE:To prevent any error from being generated in the contents printed on the back side with respect to the contents printed on the face side, by a method wherein a bar code previously printed on the face side is read by a sensor, followed by printing on the back side, in a printer for direct mail or the like. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the case of a postcard as a medium 2 shown in Figs. b1 and b2, the bar code I or J is printed simultaneously with printing the destination name, address or the like on the face side 2A. When the medium 2 is fed from a paper-supplying part 1 to a feeding passage A, the bar code I or J is read by a bar code sensor 12, an index signal is fed to a controlling circuit 10 through an amplifying circuit 13, the printing data to be printed are collated, the printing data thus collated are stored into a memory part 9, and printing H corresponding to the bar code is conducted on the back side 2B of the medium 2 in response to an output from the part 9. Accordingly, the troubles which might be generated after sending the printed medium as a postal matter can be eliminated. |
