The invention relates to a metering mechanism for fluid or pasty media which makes possible the metering of small quantities, successively or in parallel. For this purpose, a metering piston 12 designed as a ring piston and a valve rotor 14 designed as the core of the ring piston are mounted concentrically to each other in a housing 1 and positioned so as to be mutually rotatable. The metering piston 12, designed as a ring piston, has a recess designed as a ring-segment-like filling space 13, which can be subdivided into chambers by ring-segment-like discs 12a, 12b, 12c carried by the metering piston. By rotating the valve rotor 14, the filling space 13 or respectively its chambers can be connected to one or more discharge openings 6, 7, 8, 9, so that the medium contained in the filling space 13 is conveyed out by rotating the metering piston 12. In another rotary position of the valve rotor 14, on the other hand, the suction opening 11 is connected to the filling space 13, so that the filling space 13 can be filled by rotating the metering piston in the opposite direction. <IMAGE>
