A scanning device for a magnetic tape apparatus is proposed, in which the tape guidance is determined by adjustable tape-guiding elements along the helical line of a magnetic tape wrapped around a head drum. The tape-guiding elements comprise a cuboidal support (7) with a rounded portion in the supporting region of the longitudinal edge of the magnetic tape (1). The supports (7) are fastened by a single retaining screw (12) on a planar face (13) of the drum surface. A displaceable adjustment of the support takes place by a lever (16), which engages through bores (9, 15) in the support (7) and the supporting face (13) of the support (7). <IMAGE>
