Self-energising brake system

A braking system with a self-energising effect for cycles or a corresponding retro fitting kit for conventional brakes consists of a rotatably mounted linkage 5 which is attached to the brake shoes 1; when the brake is actuated, the brake shoes describe a circular path and, in a particular angular range of the linkage, the brake shoes are drawn against the rim or other moving elements and ensure extremely effective braking.
