In a method for recovering the data bits from frequency-shift-keyed signals, also referred to as FSK signals, in which these signals first pass through a bandpass filter, in order then to be digitised by means of a comparator circuit, sampled by a shift register and thus, converted into bit patterns, to enable a comparison with bit patterns relevant for user data signals, a group of bit patterns is in each case unambiguously assigned to the signal frequencies and remaining ambiguities are unambiguously eliminated using a discriminator circuit.
