PURPOSE:To increase m.p. and to improve corrosion resistance, high-temp. strength and spalling resistance by tiring chromium oxide clinker and magnesia clinker at a high temp. to form picrochromite bond between chromium oxide and magnesia. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of fine chromium oxide powder with a small amt. of a sintering aid such as TiO2 is molded and sintered to obtain chromium oxide clinker having >=90wt.% Cr2O3 content and 5-50% porosity. 35-75wt.% of this clinker is blended with 25-65wt.% magnesia clinker contg. <=10wt.% electrolytic magnesia-chrome ore clinker as required, a binder is added as required and they are kneaded, molded and fired to obtain the refractory having picrochromite bond between chromium oxide and magnesia in the structure. |
