Torsional vibration absorber

A torsional vibration absorber, particularly for the drive shaft of a motor vehicle, consists of a hub (2) which can be fixed in torsionally rigid fashion on a shaft, of a rotary mass (3) concentrically surrounding the hub (2), and of a rubber-spring device (4) connecting the rotary mass (3) to the hub (2) and acting in the circumferential direction. In order to improve the guidance of the rotating mass (3) relative to the hub (2) and, at the same time, to increase the absorption capacity of the torsional vibration absorber, supporting studs (7, 8) are provided on the inside of the rotary mass (3), projecting radially inwards to an extent such that their radially inward-facing front faces (9) rest in sliding contact with the outer circumferential surface (10) of the hub (2). The outer circumferential surface (10) of the hub (2) has a circular, cylindrical form in the areas in sliding contact with the inner front faces (9) of the supporting studs (7, 8) and the inner front faces (9) of the supporting studs are matched to this shape. <IMAGE>
