PURIFICATION OF RETRO VIRUS

PURPOSE:To safely and profitably provide retro virus in a high yield and in a high purity by bringing a solution containing the retro virus or a constituent thereof into contact with a specific gel and subsequently eluting the retro virus or constituent adsorbed on the gel. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing retro virus or a constituent thereof (the blood or infected tissue of an infected animal) is brought into contact with the gel of cellulose sulfate ester or crosslinked polysaccharide sulfate ester, followed by washing the gel and by eluting the retro virus and/or the constituent from the gel. After the gel is preliminarily treated with a buffer solution having a specific conductivity of 5.0-25.0ms/cm at 0-30 deg.C to equilibrate the conditions of the gel, the adsorption is preferably carried out. The washing is preferably performed with a buffer solution having a specific conductivity of 0.5-5.0ms/cm. The elution is preferably carried out with a buffer solution having a specific conductivity of 0.5-5.0ms/cm.
