The inductive identification system (1) is used for the identification of goods carriers in conveying technology. For this purpose, identification carriers (8) in the form of a steel identification carrier are fastened onto the train set or the object carrier. When the identification carrier passes through the inductively acting sensor fork (16) of the identification system (1), the identification number of the identification carrier is detected without contact on the teeth (12) shortened in the binary code. By means of the subsequent microprocessor, the identification number is obtained from the sensor signals, and the identification carrier (8) and the sensors (2-3, 4-5, 6-7) are checked for a satisfactory condition before transmitting (relaying) the data. <IMAGE>
