The soot filter is used to clean the exhaust gases of a Diesel engine. The exhaust gases are scrubbed by flowing through a container (3) filled with a washing liq. (4). The washing liq, which may be water or a low viscosity mineral oil, catches the soot particles so that they are deposited as a sediment which can from time to time be removed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Diesel engine exhaust system which can be used in vehicles of all kinds as well as in stationary plants.
