Provided are a power amplifier control device and method, the power amplifier control device comprising: a first acquisition unit for acquiring a first service situation of a multimode base station in a first communication mode and a second service situation of the multimode base station in a second communication mode; a first determination unit for determining, according to the first service situation, whether a current first unit of transmission has data to transmit; a second determination unit for determining, according to the second service situation, whether a current second unit of transmission has data to transmit; a second acquisition unit for acquiring a shorter time duration from the time duration of the first unit for transmission and the time duration of the second unit of transmission when both the first unit for transmission and the second unit for transmission have no data to transmit; and a first control unit for turning off a power amplifier by using the obtained time duration as a reference, such that the multimode base station controls the turning-off of the power amplifier in a plurality of communication modes, thus reducing energy consumption of the multimode base station. |
