Provided is an absorbent article which is not readily deformed by forces applied by a variety of movements of a body, such as a load as a result of sitting, and which is capable of maintaining air permeability. This absorbent article (10) has: a liquid-permeable surface sheet (14); a liquid-impermeable reverse surface sheet (12); and an absorbent body (13) disposed between the surface sheet (14) and the reverse surface sheet (12). Grooves (21), in which a plurality of recessed sections (22) are disposed, extend on the surface sheet (14) side, said recessed sections (22) being formed by forming the surface sheet (14) and the absorbent body (13) integrally. Each of the recessed sections (22) has side walls (21d) and a bottom section (21c).
