PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive member for electrophotography, which is excellent in a charge holding function, has scarcely residual potential, stable in an electric characteristic even in a high humidity atomosphere, is high in sensitivity, has a high S/N ratio, is excellent in optical fatigue resistance and repetitive use property, has high density, generates a half tone clearly, and also is capable of stably obtaining a high resolution and high quality picture at all time. CONSTITUTION:A titled member is constituted of a supporting body 101, and an amorphous material containing a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, and consisting of a silicon atom as its base body, and has an amorphous layer 103 showing photoconductivity and a barrier layer 102, and said amorhous layer 103 has a layer area containing an oxygen atom, distribution of the oxygen atom is unequal in the thickness direction of the layer, it is distributed more on the opposite surface side of the supporting body, and the layer is constituted so that its maximum distribution quantity Cmax is in the vicinity of a surface ts. In this way, excellent electric, optical and photoconductive characteristics and a use environmental characteristic are obtained. |
