METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING MULTI-CHANNEL FLAW DETECTION DATA

PURPOSE:To take early-stage actions, etc., preventing unnecessary flaw detection by a method wherein flaw detection data is subject to parallel high-speed pre- processing by a plurality of sub computers while after each lateral round-trip scanning of a sample the results are displayed in details. CONSTITUTION:CPUs 1 to 6 collect flaw detection data with respect to each probe according to interruption from an ultrasonic flaw detector (UST) slave 7. Instruction and data for flaw detection is written into an inter-CPU transmission/receiving area 9 as a data transfer memory via a common bus 10, and respective CPUs on the main side and the sub side can access it via the bus 10 any time. Flaw detection data and detection results are read out by a main CPU 8 and displayed on a memory 11 while at the same time they are displayed in real time on a CRT 12. This enables judgement to be performed in an early stage during process of flaw detection and subsequent processing to be instructed, thereby eliminating unnecessary flaw detection.
