PURPOSE:To obtain stable images by moving a layer thickness regulating member apart from a developer holding member automatically at every preset to clean the parts near the thickness regulating member thereby making the formed thin layer of the developer uniform. CONSTITUTION:Regulating member 12 for a layer thickness is constituted freely movably apart from or near to a sleeve 2 which is a developer holding means by means of a pin 13 and a long hole 12a. Normally said member is held pressed downward by a spring 14 and a sliding member 15. When copying is executed and the number of copied sheets attains the preset number of sheets, a solenoid 20 operates, thereby operating a one turn clutch 19. Then a cam 16 is rotated one turn and the member 12 is moved upward; at the same time, the projection 41 provided to the body of a developing device and the projection of the cam 16 are meshed, by which the sleeve 2 is moved apart from a developing drum 1. The flocculated developer near the member 12 is scraped down into a developer containing vessel by a scraping part 27. |
