<p>A microwave container comprising a receptacle 2 having a foodstuff hermetically sealed therein by means of a metal lid 12 and a collar 3 which is of annular configuration and adapted to be located over the rim of the receptacle when the hermetically sealed lid is removed therefrom, the collar being provided with a flange 16 means whereby, in use, any edge 17 of the metal lid remaining after removal is shielded from microwave radiation. The metal lid may have a line of weakness 14 to facilitate its removal. The collar 3 may snap fit over the receptacle. A reusable lid 4 may be located on the collar.
