PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption for inertial driving by disposing a power shut-down means on a power transmission system between the output shaft of an engine and the output shaft of a transmission. CONSTITUTION:A starting device 100 connected with the output shaft of an engine is connected to the output shaft 142 of an transmission through a stepless transmission mechanism 140, and a multiple-plate clutch C1 (power shut-down means) is disposed on a power transmission system between the output shaft of the engine and the output shaft 142. Moreover, when a car is below its preset vehicle speed and its preset throttle opening during driving in D range, a shift solenoid valve is turned on by the output of an electronic control device, releasing the clutch C1. This releases the communication between the input shaft of an epicyclic transmission mechanism 120 and the output shaft. Namely, power transmission is released. It is thus possible to make inertial driving for improved fuel consumption. |
