PURPOSE:To reduce an ink jet recorder in size by storing waste ink absorbed from a discharge port for recovery of discharge and waste ink dust to preliminary discharge in conveying means. CONSTITUTION:When a timing gear 21 is rotated, inks on a discharge port forming face and in an absorbing cap 35b are sucked by remaining negative pressure in a pumping chamber, thereby eliminating remainder of the inks at the parts. Then, when the timing gear 21 is reversely rotated, a piston reset cam 21g pulls a piston reset roller 30 to move a piston shaft 27 in a direction of an arrow J. A gap DELTAl is generated between the end face 28b of a piston 28 and a piston retainer 27b. Waste ink sucked into the pumping chamber 42 is discharged to the vicinity of the center of a waste ink absorber 37 through the gap DELTAl, the groove 37f of the piston shaft, the ink passage 34c of a cylinder 24 and further waste ink tube 24g by the movements of the piston shaft 27 and the piston 28. In this case, since the ink passage 24e of the cylinder 24 is blocked by the piston 28 at the initial operation of the piston 28, waste ink is not reversely fed in a direction of a cap. |
