A brush suitable to fit a motor driven spindle (7) has a conical widening drum (2) to which brush strips (13) are fitted. The free ends protrude beyond rim (17) of drum. Brush strips are removably secured to the inside of the drum. The brush (1) consists of a conical drum which at the small end is closed by disc (3) and at the large end by a ring (4). The end part (6) of the spindle is threaded for fitting a nut (8) to secure the brush to the spindle. The ring has peripheral slots (9). A number of apertures (10) accommodate bolts (11) which secure bundles (12) of brush strips.
