The said system of the type in which the rails are held transversely by the respective flanges and fixed to the sleepers by elements incorporated in the actual fixing means is essentially characterized in that the sleeper 1 has, at both ends or heads, grooves (sockets, mortises, dovetails) or mortises which are mutually parallel and uniformly arranged, and on either side of these there are, embedded in the sleeper 1, a like number of threaded sockets 3, one of which is covered by the rail irrespective of the position which the latter occupies, and the others act as a housing respectively for the holding and fixing means constituted by guide plates 6 which flank the aforesaid rail 5 and "sleeper screw" means 4 which fix a complementary plate 8 to the aforesaid guide plate 6.
