PURPOSE:To produce a silver oxide cell having excellent discharge performance, by bringing the zinc oxide concentration in the electrolyte at the cathode side lower than the saturation concentration, when assembling the silver oxide cell, while increasing near to the saturation concentration through the preliminary discharge. CONSTITUTION:Zinc is employed as the cathode active substance while the silver oxide as the anode active substance and the alkali solution as the electrolyte to assemble a silver oxide cell, thereafter the cell is preliminarily discharged to produce the metal silver on the surface of anode thus to produce the silver oxide cell. Here the cathode side electrolyte will have the zinc oxide concentration considerably lower than the saturating concentration such as 0-4%, for example, at the aseembling of cell. Then the preliminary discharge is performed to increase the zinc oxide concentration of the cathode side electrolyte near to the saturating concentration. The silver oxide cell thus produced has low terminal voltage drop due to the discharge and having the excellent discharge performance. |
