The circuit for recording the program again after pausing or stopping with smooth interconnection uses control pulse having different duties so that the non-recorded area or ovelap-recorded area in the tape can be removed. When transfering from the record mode to stop or pause mode, a control pulse with different duty is recorded on the tape. When recording again, the circuit detects the control signal and records again with smooth interconnection between the programs.
