PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility by selecting a certain peak of a histogram, finding the inclination of a histogram curve at each height while decreasing the height on the histogram curve, and separating the histogram at the height where the inclination of the curve varies abruptly. CONSTITUTION:An image which is photographed by a television camera 3 is digitized by an image input mans 21 and stored in a storage part 4. A histogram of density in a certain area of the image is obtained by a density histogram calculating means 22 and stored in a histogram storage part 5. Then the histogram is read out by a histogram read means 23 and displayed on a display part 6. Then a peak detecting means 24 selects a certain peak of the histogram and when the peak is detected, a detecting means 25 checks the value of the inclination of the curve of the peak at each height to find the height where the inclination of the curve varies abruptly. Then a histogram separating means 26 extends the curve above the height downward smoothly to separate the histogram and an area calculating means 27 finds the area of the histogram. |
