PURPOSE:To provide a safe blood pressure-regulating agent having antihypertensive and antihypotensive actions by containing an earthworm extract prepared by extracting as an active ingredient an earthworm with an extraction solvent such as an aqueous solvent or a water-miscible organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A safe blood pressure-regulating agent contains as an active ingredient an earthworm extract prepared by extracting an earthworm with an extraction solvent selected from an aqueous solvent, a water-miscible organic solvent and a water-non-miscible organic solvent. The agent employs e.g. an earthworm suspension prepared by leaving a living earthworm in an aqueous solution containing a compound such as an organic acid or an inorganic acid in a concentration of <=0.3wt.% or in pure water to allow the earthworm to spent excrement soil from the digestive tracts thereof, washing filth on the surface thereof with water and wet-crushing the washed earthworm. |
