A disposable absorbant article comprises a body portion with a tape fastener and a tape tab on each longitudinal edge of one end having fastening elements with an adhesive securement separate from these. The adhesive securement secures to another portion of the body so that each tape tab has a combination of a mechanical and adhesive closure mechanism and a landing member is disposed on the outside surface of the article in a second end and carries a fastener for engaging with the first fastener.
