The method for converting the bit image data used for a dot printer to an appropriate one used for the laser printer comprises (a) bit image input routine reading the byte number of the bit image data, length and breadth emlarging ratio, present X, Y coordinates, and start addresses of buffers (111,112); (b) lengthwise enlarging routine enlarging the bit image data by storing the blank data in the buffer (12); (c) image rotation routine rotating the bit image data to 90 degree by an image rotation circuit (15); (d) and a breadthwise enlarging routine enlarging the breadthwise bit image data and storing them to a raster RAM (12).
