Formation of intramolecular disulphide bridges by oxidn. of a peptide contg. two SH gps. is effected by (a) prepg. an aq. suspn. of an oxidising agent (I) covalently or electrostatically bonded to a solid phase, (b) adding an aq. soln. of the peptide to the stirred suspn. at a rate such that the peptide concn. is always so low that the probability of an intermolecular reaction is negligible, (c) intensively stirring the mixt., and (d) working up the crude prod.
