PURPOSE:To ensure that a specified amount of opening is obtained for ribbon exchange and that the whole device is compact by installing an operating panel cover on the upper surface of a casing so that it slides toward an operator, and providing a printer unit storage chamber separated with a seat plate in the opposite side of the casing bordering a section where the operating panel cover completes its sliding action at the side of an operator. CONSTITUTION:A printer storage chamber 16 needs to be opened for replacement of a printing ribbon. In order to perform this operation, first the top surface of a printer cover 3 is pressed, then a claw 33 on an edge 32 and the front plate 28 for the operating panel cover are disengaged to remove a cover 30. Next an area near the stepped section 6 of both side plates 3 of a casing is pressed inward to disengage a claw 25 on the front edge of a cover 20 for an operating panel from an engagement hole 7 on the stepped section 6. After this, the cover 20 for the operating panel is caused to slide toward an operator. Consequently, the cover 20 for the operating panel moves back to a point where a protruding piece 24 into an area inside both side plates 23 comes in contact with the rear end of a slit 5 provided on the top of both side plates 3, that is, a point where the front edge of the cover 20 for the operating panel reaches an area near the top of a reinforcing seat plate 14, and opens the upper surface of a printer unit storage chamber 16. |
