摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to suppress the increase of pH of electrolyte during the charging process by stopping the circulation of electrolyte in the positive electrode side for a specified time during the charging process. CONSTITUTION:During the charging process, positive electrode electrolyte in a storage tank 22 in the positive electrode side and negative electrode electrolyte in a storage tank 24 in the negative electrode side are both circulated. When the circulation of positive electrode electrolyte is stopped for a specified time during the charging process, the number of bromine ions Br<-> in a reaction tank 14 in the positive electrode side becomes deficient, and by the associated specific reaction the concentration of hydrogen ions in the electrolyte is increased to reduce pH. In order to adjust the reduction rate of pH the stopping duration of the circulation of the positive electrode electrolyte is controlled. Thereby the pH adjustment of the electrolyte can be carried out by simply turning ON and OFF of an existing pump 30 with no need to provide new means or to add chemical agent.
