PURPOSE:To improve critical current density, especially critical current density in a magnetic field in rare earth elements-Ba-Cu-O-based oxide superconductor by making the rare earth elements comprising Ho and specific four elements and specifying a composition. CONSTITUTION:This oxide superconductor comprises a composition shown by the general formula (HoxRE1-x)Ba2Cu3O7-delta. In the formula, RE is one or more of Y, Dy, Er and Tm, x is 0.75>=x>=0.25 and delta is delta 0.2-0.3. By making the composition, sintering properties among calcined powder of the composition, namely solid-phase integrity is improved and density is raised to give an oxide superconductor having >= about 1.000A/cm<2> critical current density Jc and excel lent magnetic field resistance. When the x is out of the above-mentioned range, sintering properties among the calcined powder are reduced, a sintered material having sufficiently high density is not obtained and magnetic field resistance is deteriorated. |
