A process for purifying and separating sweetenings from stevia comprises (a) soaking the stevia leaves in hot water and obtaining the extracted soln. by separating the soaked stevia leaves, (b) adding aluminium sulfate, CaCl2, NaOH to the extracted soln. and filtering it, (c) adsorbing the filtered soln. to amberlite XAD-7 and eluting with methanol, (d) purifying it by column chromatography and concentrating it, (e) adding methanol to the concentrated soln. and stirring it at 55-60 deg.C, and (f) crystallizing it by settling at room temp. |
