PURPOSE:To eliminate adverse affects to superconducting characteristics by heat treating an amorphous material obtained by mixing raw materials for a superconducting element, melting and quenching the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Raw materials for a superconducting element are mixed and plasma molten within an atmosphere of argon gas. The melt is quenched at a predetermined cooling rate to make it amorphous. The mixture thus obtained is heat treated and then cooled gradually to ordinary temperature to provide a polycrystalline body consisting of aggregation of single crystal bodies. Then, a substrate is obtained by cutting a single crystal body out of the polycrystalline body. In this manner, a single crystal base substrate having the same composition as that of the raw materials for the superconducting element can be obtained. Therefore, it is possible to prevent diffusion of a dopant to the superconducting element provided on the substrate. As a result, adverse effects from the substrate can be eliminated completely. |
