ELECTRO LUMINESCENE DEVICE AND ELECTRO-PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTING SYSTEM USING THE SAME

A latent image is formed on a precharged light sensitive medium by an electro-luminescent (EL) device, the light output from which is focussed on the light sensitive medium. The EL device has a number of elements formed by a set of electrodes (16) and a second row of electrodes (12) intersecting the first set with a light emitting layer formed between the two sets of electrodes through at least one insulating layer. The second electrodes are separated into a predetermined number of subelectrodes and the first electrodes are grouped into a predetermined number of groups, corresponding electrodes in each group being electrically connected. Each EL element is energised by a combination of the sub electrodes of the second electrodes.
