Novel anionic disazo dyes are of formula- <IMAGE> wherein D is a radical of formula <IMAGE> X is -COOM or -SO3M; R<1> and R<2> are each hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4alkoxy; m is 0, 1 or 2, n is 0 or 1; and m + n are 1 or 2; R<3> is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4alkoxy, R<4> is hydrogen or C1-C4alkyl, R<3> and R<4> being para-relationship if other than hydrogen; R<5> is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl or R<6>; R<6> is B-O-R<7>, wherein B is straight-chain or branched C2-C6alkylene and R<7> is C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4alkoxy-C1-C4alkyl; or NR<5>R<6> is a pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, or piperazino radical which is unsubstituted or substituted by C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4hydroxyalkyl or C1-C4alkoxy-C2-C4alkyl or C1-C4-aminoalkyl at the nitrogen atom which is not attached to the triazine ring; R<8> and R<9> are each hydrogen, C1-C6alkyl, a radical R<6> or a radical -CHR<10>-CHR<10>-O-(-CHR<11>-CHR<11>-O)p-R<4> where R<10> and R<11> are each hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, with the proviso that one each of R<10> and R<11> must be hydrogen; or NR<5>R<9> is as defined for NR<5>R<6>; P is 0 or a whole number not greater than 3, and M is hydrogen or the equivalent of a colourless cation. Dyes (I) may be used in inks or for dying textiles (e.g. cotton), paper and leather. |
