PURPOSE:To provide the subject treating agent containing a monoester salt of a polymerized fatty acid and an aliphatic alcohol having a specific carbon number, exhibiting excellent smoothness at high speed when applied to a synthetic fiber, generating little tar and white powder and having excellent abrasion resistance. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent is produced by emulsifying a monoester salt (preferably triethanolamine salt) of (A) a polymerized fatty acid (a representative example is a composition composed of 0-5wt.% of a 18C monocarboxylic acid, 60-98wt.% of a 36C dimer acid and 2-40wt.% of a 54C trimer acid) and (B) a >=120C aliphatic alcohol (e.g. oleyl alcohol). The agent is applied to a synthetic fiber such as polyester during high-speed spinning or high speed processing to impart the fiber with excellent smoothness and abrasion resistance and to enable high efficiency operation. |
