PURPOSE:To enable easy adjustment of an operating condition for correcting camber by depressing the central part of a metallic strip in the transverse direction thereof with a roll to deform said part, detecting optically the deformed shape thereof and detecting the longitudinal camber. CONSTITUTION:A detecting roll Z is pressed to the central part of a strip 1 in its transverse direction to provide an elastic deformation thereto and the deformed shape thereof is projected on a detector Y by the light applied thereto from a light source X. If the strip 1 cambers upward, the ray cast onto the strip 1 projects a video (b) on the detector Y and if the strip 1 cambers downward, the ray projects a video (d). If the strip 1 does not camber, the ray projects a video (e). The upward and downward cambers of the strip 1 are thus detected and the camber of the strip 1 is corrected by changing adequately the operating condition. |
