PURPOSE:To prevent winding dislocation like a circular cone from being generated without causing a trouble to the quality of a magnetic recording medium by winding the belt-shaped magnetic recording medium with pressuring the magnetic recording medium to a winding core at prescribed pressure. CONSTITUTION:A press roll 12 abuts on the external surface of a magnetic recording medium 2 wound into a roll-shape around a rolling core 8A, and pressures the magnetic recording medium 2 to the rolling core 8A at prescribed pressure P. The prescribed pressure P is set at a value in a range not to generate deformation due to the uneven winding surface nor deformation due to the tight winding inside the magnetic recording medium 2, and set at the value not to generate the winding dislocation at a part other than the surface layer part of the wound magnetic recording medium 2. Further immediately before the completion of the winding, a part at a prescribed length to be wound around the winding core 8A is moistened by the spray of water 16. Thus even when the magnetic recording medium 2, which has a fine and easily slidable surface, is wound at high speed, the quality of the wound magnetic recording medium 2 is not damaged, and the winding dislocation like the circular cone is prevented from being generated to the magnetic recording medium 2.
