The invention relates to metal sections of particular cross-section making it possible to produce supporting structures of polygonal cross-section, most generally of equilateral triangle shape. Its cross-section has the shape of a V, the 2 branches 1, 2 of which between them form an angle delta lying between 50 and 90 DEG . It may also include a heel 3 and two lateral reinforcements 4, 5. They make it possible to erect supporting structures on a polygonal base of prismatic or pyramid shape with a limited number of sections of homothetic cross-section. The connections are made by bolting, riveting, or wedging (clips). The invention applies to all sorts of metal constructions, in particular to beams and floors, telecommunication masts, supports for road or rail signalling or lights, pylons for electric power lines, etc. <IMAGE>
