摘要 <p>A vice has two jaws which can be closed and opened by rotating handle (22) to move threaded element (21). A final clamping pressure is applied using unthreaded mechanical means operable independently by handle (53). A boss (46) has a conical surface engaged with line contact by element (64) which rolls around the conical surface when handle (53) is rotated about axis (57) offset from axis (42) of the conical surface and thus effects axial movement of the jaw, and thus frictional effects are reduced compared with applying the final pressure using handle (22).</p>
