Impact absorbing vehicle body sections - with crush construction end sections and securing catches on hinged cover

The end sections of the body have side panels (1, 2) covered by a hinged cover (6). The safety securing bolts (7) are spaced along each side of the cover to secure it to the side panels in a collision and prevent the cover being pushed into the passenger compartment. The bottom of the section can be secured by a floor panels (3) welded to the side panels. The end sections crush between the safety bolts. The bolts are activated by large braking forces and are pushed into the locking position against spring force. USE/ADVANTAGE - Safety construction of car body, secure mounting for cover.
