An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention includes: a connector which can be connected to an ear phone, and can receive an ear jack of the ear phone through insertion; an audio module processing a sound signal; and a processor controlling the audio module. The audio module outputs a first designated sound signal through an ear speaker of the ear phone if an interrupt according to insertion of the ear jack occurs, and the processor can determine the kind of the ear jack on the basis of a second sound signal collected through an ear microphone which can be included in the ear phone. Except the same, various embodiments grasped through the present specification can be possible.
