PURPOSE: To perform dry chemical analysis by an arrangement in which an analyte responsive substance makes a detectable response to an analyte existing in a liquid reaction mixture. CONSTITUTION: A base 12 supports a reagent containing means preferably made of a porous member 16. At least one kind of analyte responsive substance makes a detectable response to the presence and concentration of an analyte dispersed over the member 16. A cover or a supporting member 18 stores reaction components integrally with the base 12. The reaction components are held in a reaction agent reservoir 28 within the cover and a liquid reaction mixture is produced in the reservoir 28. The reservoir 28 is provided with a passage means 30 for transferring the reaction mixture selectively. A detectable response produced from the analyte responsive substance is measured and compared with a detectable response produced at the time of analysis using a kind of standard composition containing a known quantity of analyte thus measuring the analyte in a sample qualitatively and quantitatively. |
