This invention relates to an oil seal device suitable for use in a wet type flywheel housing, in which a flywheel housing (5) is provided for the flywheel (12) attached to the crank shaft (3) on the rear part of the engine body, an oil seal body (1) is provided inside this flywheel housing, a vent tube (7) is provided at a lip part of the oil seal body (1), and a mask (10) for intercepting the flow of oil is located ahead of an opening on the forward end side of the vent tube. Since a negative pressure is thereby prevented from being generated between lip parts during running of the engine, the property of preventing abnormal wear of the lip parts can be maintained, and the flow of oil from the side of the flywheel into the engine body is prevented even when the oil flow on the side of the flywheel housing is rapid. |
