CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material for forming an image by heating by a thermal head, a base member comprises a layer obtained by applying a foamable plastic material and foaming the material or a layer comprising an inorganic heat-insulating agent and a binder on a base, and the thermal conductivity of the base member is set to or below 0.04 kcal/mh deg.C (20 deg.C). With the thermal conductivity of the base member thus set, the quantity of heat transferred from the thermal head is reduced, and bleeding on printing is suppressed.
