A gear-change mechanism for motor vehicles contains a gear lever mounted in a bearing in a frame. The lever has a handle on one side of the bearing and a lever arm (8) on the other. The lever arm is connected via a linkage to an organ which converts the pivotal motion of the lever into a linear motion. The lever arm has parts (20, 21) which move w.r.t. each other and devices (30) which extend the effective moment arm when the lever is pivoted out of a defined position. ADVANTAGE - Fully mechanical gear-change mechanism requires no greater actuation forces than conventional ones yet has considerably smaller pivot angle. |
